Dryer, Pellet and Liner Sweeping Rods and Tools, all made in the USA. Small ButtonLok™ Rods in three diameters and tools for these rods. The original locking nylon rods relied on by professional vent cleaners and chimney sweeps since 2000. New EZ Driver drill adapter (Item 2715EZ) takes these proven rods to a new level of productivity. Our Snagless whip heads integrate a patent pending head design with a 3' length of rod to make the most economical and easiest to use whip head in the vent cleaning industry.WHY CHOOSE BUTTONLOK? Our products integrate several patented features not found on other rods. We believe your productivity will be enhanced by these innovations. Firstly our male fittings have a special shape where the fitting meets the rod we call "Anti-Snag". This angle cut causes a rotating rod to "jump" if it engages a mismatch in the metal venting, for example an elbow that has a male end that it sticking up a little. Rods without this feature will hook on this edge and you will note cutting of the rod material right at the joint between the fitting and the rod. This cutting, over time, weakens the rod and creates a stress point leading to early breakage. The hooking of rods will also slow down your work and can lead to damage of the vent. The second feature you will notice with our rods is the female end has a fat chamfer on the ID to push the button down for you while putting them together. We also have a special shape on the inside of our fittings that releases the button easier. There are additional features you can't see that are internal to the fittings and we believe makes them stronger than any other rod system extant. A NOTE REGARDS BREAKING OF RODS. Broken rods are a fact of life for dryer vent and chimney technicians. When quoting include a statement that covers the extra cost of rods or time for retrieval in vents with hidden disconnections or non-code compliant vents, especially when duct taping or screws are encountered. Broken rods are especially early in your career when broken rod opportunities are enhanced by the learning curve. Rods and brushes that are moving along fine in a vent can encounter a hidden disconnection. If nearby you might note a change in the sound but even then it is too late. Sometimes in such a case you can use the Anti-Snag feature discussed above to pull the rods back towards you without rotation until you feel it start to hook. If you are lucky and this is the male fitting a slow single rotation of the drill might cause the Anti-Snag to walk the fitting over the edge. You will then be at the brush at the edge of the vent which may or may not walk back in for you. Our Vent Vision Camera (VV1D) is a great tool when you have this situation so you can see what you are faced with. Other times you might just keep putting rods on and the brush and rods enter a joist bay or attic and fold back on themselves and break. Other hidden disconnections might allow the brush to "jump across" the gap in a slight disconnection but later you get hooked coming back out and a rod breaks. This is better than damaging the vent or pushing it apart!
