New co-polymer rod offers better resistance to heat and cold while its slippery surface does not tend to rub as hard as other materials reducing friction. This improves control and extends the life of the rods. This is our medium flex rod that is the everyday workhorse for cleaning open fireplaces and larger ducts up to 12" x 16". Quite flexible, they can enter at an angle up to 30 degrees so angled takeoffs in fireplaces are acceptable. Available in a 3' length as well, search for 5830 in search box.
USE WITH: A.W. Perkins #7265 Medusa Whip for flaky debris which is shown in picture, #7255 Cable Loop for light stage 2 glaze typically found in fireplaces or #7266 Euro Whip for lighter soot debris. The new Large Missile Aluminum Head in a 24", #RO14 is ideal for factory built fireplace flues. May be used for chain deglazing (use our 7245, 7245L, or 7266 w/chains option on lighter glaze). For really heavy deglazing that will take a long time the 3/4" solid Slick #7530 or new ButtonLok II #7540D rod is a better choice.
USAGE TIPS: Always keep the rods moving up the flue (or back down) when using at any bend angle. Held spinning while stationary at a tight bend radius will heat up the plastic and weaken it leading to premature breakage. Do NOT push back and forth as with regular brush sweeping. From your starting point (almost always from below) add a rod, spin while advancing the rod, then add another rod and advance again. Reverse drill rotation at the top for rectangular or larger square flues as whip tends to "walk" in the direction of rotation. Our video below or at
